"Talk To A New Yorker!"

(check out this special Vlog post)

NYC Time Traveler

I don't write much poetry at all...but one strange, true fact about the very little I do produce is that it gets published at a rate that would make me extremely happy if I were a poet, rather than a fiction writer/essayist, with way too many fine stories still waiting in the still-to-be published queue (which sounds so much better than languishing on my hard drive, doesn't it...?)

Anyway: On an odd impulse, I recently sent a small downtown publisher a few odd pieces I thought might do for their annual "Dadaist" 'zine, Maintenant, even though I wasn't really sure (and still don't really know) what they might be looking for, given their particular anarchic philosophical/poetical predilections.

On the the other hand, no one submitting work ever truly knows what anyone is looking for, or what the chances may actually be. Case in point: I'm suddenly a Dada poet, with a piece about to be published in Maintenant 7, come March:

Not only that: there's a celebratory

"Dada Salon" cum Launch Party

@ The Cornelia Street Café

29 Cornelia Street NY NY

Friday, March 15, from 6-8pm!

I'm not sure I'll take the editors up on their invitation to all NYC Maintenant 7 contributors to read our poems at the Salon that night, but I will almost certainly attend: I want to see who the other Dada Poets are and maybe learn what it is that made our offerings so...Dada!

See you there...?

That's great to hear, Stephen! For the Maintenant series, we acpcet intentional submissions. Our next reading period will begin in November 2012 and end in January 2013, assuming the world doesn't end on December 21, 2012. Look forward to your feedback on this issue and contribution to the next one! Best,
